Class Description: What does it take to get noticed? What do you look like online? Are you a mix of press releases and pictures from past charity events, or is there something substantive that explains why you made it to the executive ranks? Do you feel connected to your industry, or did your work experience leave you in a silo, too busy to reach out? Do you feel you currently have the information you need to steer a company through rough economic seas?

If any of those questions make you pause, or if you’ve been thinking about how to write online, either as an executive or a subject matter expert, there are specific strategies and tactics that you need to know. There are rules of the road that can establish you as someone who not just understands the benefit of social media, but someone who actually knows how to use it to its maximum advantage. Executives have different requirements for writing other than job descriptions. You either have or had real power, which means what you say has real consequences. There are great benefits to be had from writing a blog, but there are also real challenges to doing it correctly. You’re either spilling company secrets or you’re boring – neither of which is helpful to your career.

And yet, done right, you can be the market leader online in your segment, regardless of your actual position. You need some guidance on how to make your blog interesting, fast and easy to write, and how to leverage your blog for commercial and personal gain. In this 90 minute session, Jim Durbin, known as the Social Media Headhunter walks you through step-by-step instructions on how to write, gain influence, and generate results online.

In this 90 minute session you will learn:

  • How to use the blog to prepare future employment opportunities.
  • How to set-up a blog without needing an IT department.
  • How to create and publish compelling content quickly.
  • How to position yourself as an industry leader who can impact the bottom line.
  • How to avoid common mistakes, and leapfrog common hurdles.
  • How to use a blog to boost your online profile to friendly industry reporters.
